Robotics Design and Manufacturing Engineer

The Company

Emancro’s mission is to build general-purpose hospital logistics robots that perform a wide variety of tasks such as organizing and distributing medication and medical supplies within hospitals. In this way, robots are freeing up medical staff’s time and enable better and more resilient patient care.

We are an ambitious and rapidly growing team pushing the boundaries of what is possible in robotics, leveraging our recent breakthroughs in computer vision, robotics and AI at UC Berkeley.

Our Product

We are building EASO 1.0, the world's first mobile robot for restocking medication cabinets, and assembling medication trays in hospitals, which is a very labor intensive and error-prone task that many hospitals urgently want to automate. In the future, we will expand capabilities to a wide range of additional tasks in hospitals from automating the hospital lab to serving food.

The Role

You will closely work with the leadership team on designing various robot hardware components. This role is full-time and on-site only.

Work Components

  • Full design process of  various mechanical components of our robot
  • Defining and documenting specifications
  • Assembling and testing of electro-mechanical components
  • Mathematical modeling of mechanical systems, calculating forces and stresses

Key Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience with Solidworks or other CAD systems
  • Track record of designing the mechanics for high-performance electro-mechanical systems (e.g. robot arms)
  • Experience in design for manufacturing
  • Design for CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding, sheet metal designs, die casting etc.
  • Expert knowledge of machine elements: motors, transmission, linkages, gear-boxes etc.
  • Knowledge of 3D geometry, transformations, rotations, quaternions etc.
  • Experience building electrical and electronics prototypes
  • PCB Soldering
  • Wiring, crimping etc.
  • Familiar with industrial standard compliance such as IEC 61508, ISO 14539, ISO/TS 15066
